SPACELAB were engaged originally to undertake a design review of the proposed block amalgamation to inform the feasibility of a development application. The site was challenging as numerous planning and utility service requirements were in direct conflict, as were the ACT crown leases, which supported development of one block and limited it on the other.
The team worked across many disciplines to gain community acceptance, then a development approval for the site for 17 terrace type townhouses. This included lengthy community engagement and consultation with members of the public, local residents groups and also with the adjacent Blue Gum school. A detailed landscape masterplan, statutory planning services and management of the entire DA process resulted in a DA approval. SPACELAB then also produced 3D renders for the marketing of "Stockdale45".
