SPACELAB were engaged to assist the design development and planning framework for a Development Control Plan across this amalgamated site of 3 blocks, within the National Capital Authority controlled parliamentary zone. To suggest this site was challenging is an understatement, with strong local opposition to the redevelopment, numerous large trees, conflicts between the National Capital Authority (NCA) and ACTEPD planning requirements, and a previous owner who had flown in from Canada to do everything possible to save his birth home.
After a long road of carefully considered design documentation, a close working relationship with Collins Caddye Architects, a cluttered path through tedious negotiation and planning process eventuated in a negotiated outcome at the ACAT, without any negative impact on the proposed development. The design of the development survived intact and is planned for market release in early 2017.
" I never expected that to take a project through the design and planning process could present the many challenges we experienced here. I am very thankful we engaged Giselle at Spacelab as early in the process as we did. Giselle did a great job at keeping the discussion on track, regardless of ongoing challenges, and kept the planning process moving along. We now have all our approvals. Thankyou Giselle."
